Spindle Spinning

Spindle Spinning: Learn how to spin using the most basic method of spinning: the drop spindle.  Spinners have been transforming fiber into yarn using drop spindles for 10,000 years or more, long before spinning wheels were developed.  Prior to the invention of the spinning wheel, spindles were used for spinning the thread used for weaving into all fabrics including sails, clothing, linens and more. Drop spindles can be as primitive as a stone with a stick going through it, to intricately crafted pieces of art.  In this class you will learn to spin on an Ashford Student Spindle, which will be available for purchase along with our many other styles of drop spindles.

Date:  Saturday, November 26 from 1:00-4:00

Instructor, Patty Premovitch is an accomplished drop spindle spinner.  She lives in Colorado with her family and will be visiting Tucson Thanksgiving weekend.  This is a great opportunity to work off some of those pecan pie calories while learning to make yarn.

The $45.00 fee includes a bag of fibers plus the use of an Ashford Student Spindle.
