After Hours at Grandma’s

After Hours at Grandma’s is our best attended fiber arts & social time. We meet on Wednesdays from 5:00 until 8:00 to work on any projects you wish, or to just sit and visit.  This is a great time to meet like-minded fiber enthusiasts, and perhaps, your newest best friend.  It is free and all Fiber Club Card* members are welcome.

Grandma’s Open Craft Time

Spinning Group

Come in any time, pull up a chair, relax and work on your latest project, or start a new one!  There are informal groups that meet Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, sit around the table and generally have a good time.  Please feel free to come in and join them.

Charity Knitting/Crochet

Our charity knitting group meets the 1st and 3rd Wed. of each month from 10:30-12:30 to knit and crochet baby items for expectant mothers who belong to our facebook group, Tucson People Helping People. We also knit and crochet for the homeless.  We have plenty of donated yarn as well as patterns you may use.  Please bring your own needles and hooks.

Grandma’s Sockaholics Annonymous

Sock club meets the third Saturday of each month. This group is for experienced knitters only but not necessarily in sock knitting; you must know how to knit, purl, decrease and increase. This is a social group, not meant as instructional time, though there are always people who will be happy to help you solve little problems.  We get together and share patterns, ideas and techniques. Cost: $10.00/first session (includes a  folder in which to collect the patterns); subsequent sessions are free. Time: 10:30-12:30.  Every month we offer a featured sock yarn to members at a discount.

In addition to our organized group times, almost any time we are open, there are people gathered around the table working on a project. Once you are a Fiber Club Card member, you are always welcome to join them, and there is never a charge for social time.

UFO Fridays

U.F.O. Fridays: Come in and work on your UnFinished Objects (projects) with us on Fridays from 1:00-4:00 and earn Fiber Club Points.  your UFO does not have to be made with yarn purchased at Grandma’s, but you must be a fiber card holder to participate. (see above)

BUCKET LIST SPINNING CLUB

If you are an experienced spinner or someone looking to gain more experience this club is for you!  We will be learning about the different kinds of sheep/fibers, different ways to spin, structure, about color and much, much more.                                                                              We meet the last Saturday of every month from 1:00-3:00.  Our study guide is Jacey Boggs Falkner’s’ 51 Yarns to Spin Before You Cast Off.  Cost to join is $35.00, which includes the book (a $24.00 value), a notebook and a spinning journal.  subsequent meetings will cost $10.00 each.  In addition, there will be a materials fee to cover the cost of materials used, which will be discounted from our regular retail price.  Please inform us in advance if you are planning to attend so that we can prepare enough fiber bags for everyone.
