Spinning Hemp with Joan Ruane
Hemp is one of the bast fibers that is used for making clothing, linens and other fine fabrics. In this workshop, we will specialize in preparing and spinning hemp into yarn. We will learn several methods of spinning, different preparations, finishing and storing your hemp yarns and projects. Students must be familiar with their wheels and must have some spinning experience.
Students should bring their own spinning wheel in good working order, Lazy Kate with 3 clean bobbins, niddy noddy and a small bowl/cup for water to wet the hemp.
