Details: | Hooray! We are free again to socialize and knit, crochet, or whatever handwork you do and provide needed items for folks. Our main recipients are people in hospice care and teenagers in foster care. We will also be happy to add any other group in need of our handwork, if you have a favorite. In the past we have knitted / crocheted bra inserts for women who have had breasts removed due to cancer, afghans/blankets for children detained by ICE, baby booties for a project to bring about infants lost before or soon after birth, due to inadequate prenatal care. We are always happy to welcome new members. We have yarn on hand and people to help if you can't remember how to do a stitch.
We could also use more yarn for adult or adolescent projects. As it stands now, the keeper of the stash (me) has plenty of infant yarn but very little for adult or adolescent projects. We generally use acrylic, so nothing has to be hand washed.
We meet from 10:30 to 12:30 at Grandma's every first and third Wednesday of the month. We have a good time and we often have treats.
If you have some time to share your skills for others, you would be most welcome. If you could check in with Cass or Vicky and let them know you're coming that would be a help. Hope to see you at Grandma's! |
