December 8th, 9th & 10th 2024 / December 14th, 15th & 16th 2024

World renowned artists, authors and cultural ambassadors; sisters Barbara Teller Ornelas and Lynda Teller Pete are fifth generation Master Navajo Weavers.

In this three day workshop for weavers of all skill levels Barbara and Lynda will share personal stories and experiences, allowing participants to gain fascinating insights into the world of Navajo weaving and culture.

Barbara says, “My work means a lot to me. There’s a great amount of emotion involved in the finished pieces. My rugs are like my children. I like to keep track of them.” “My family is well known for weaving Two Grey Hills tapestries with high weft counts. This style was heavily influenced by the traders at the Two Grey Hills Trading Post where my father worked for 35 years.”

“My work, my ideas, my processes and weaving materials are ever evolving but staying true to the standards set by my elders. I take responsibility of carrying on our family’s tradition by teaching my family and mentoring others to help preserve this cultural legacy.”

In this 3 day workshop students will work on a pre-warped Navajo Upright Loom (which will be available for sale) and will learn the basics of Navajo weaving and design while making a small rug, which you will be able to finish in the allotted time.
